Choose a topic of international relevance, discussion and concern out of your textbook for further updating and review.
I chose implementation of human rights. The information must be from the last five years.
At least 5 acceptable references are required in your Reference List.
Wikipedia and encyclopedia-like resources may not count as references (but see below how they may be used to find other resources).
Newspaper/newslink articles may not be any of your major 5 sources, although you may use them to supplement the major 5 sources you do use.
I suggest using:
the suggested readings list at the end of the chapter your topic is in,
footnotes from the chapter in your book where your topic is may help you get started.
the bibliography at the back of your textbook/ the search engine for articles at
Google Scholar
the citations of authority in the footnotes in wikipedia/similar articles, and
technical webpages for government or intergovernmental institutions (UN, Red Cross and European Union for instance)
Research tools in IGO websites
If you cannot get full copies of articles without paying a fee, go to the library and ask our librarians to help you do an interlibrary loan of the article. THEY can get most articles for free from the USG libraries in about 72 hours. BUT you MUST start NOW and let them know what you need and ask them nicely to help you make the proper requests.
Ms. Janice Williams is the embedded librarian in this course for your assistance. You will find her name in the Classlist and you can email her there.
Updated information/references must be within the last 5 years. If at least 3 of your sources are within that time frame, you may include other sources/references that are a bit older than that also.
HOW TO FORMAT YOUR ARTICLE:
Article Structure
Title – since this is to be submitted online, do not do a full page for your title. Simply state the title and then skip down a few lines and begin your Abstract.
Abstract and keywords – Only a short paragraph long with no details, just the “bottom line” summary of what you found out in your work, using the key words in that area of expertise/study. Wait till you finish writing the article to write and add this part in its correct order at the beginning as noted by these numbers.
Introduction – where you tell the reader in a short paragraph what topic your article is about and why it is important. Only about 2 sentences here.
Materials and methods -Use at least 5 acceptable references as noted in instructions above. This is Your review of the major recent contributions to the topic you chose…Somewhat in the manner of a “literature review” that explains what the articles you found tell us about the situation now.
What is the expertise of the author? Tell the reader about the author.
Is he/she qualified to express expert opinions about this topic? Tell the reader how/why.
What evidence does he/she present in support of conclusions given? What ARE those conclusions?
What questions are still being asked by the experts or the NGOs or the IGOs etc.? What is NOT talked about that may be part of the issue?
Make your article tell the story of the problem/topic. Ask yourself “Would I want to read this article?” Make the reader WANT to find out what it is all about.
Discussion – your additional discussion beyond the review of the recent info you found on your topic.
For instance, what does the new evidence/updated material lead a person to believe may happened next?
Is the international issue still defined the same way it was 5 years ago?
Has the situation changed? How so?
What is of concern to us?
What solutions have been found? Will the solutions actually work? Says who? Are they experts in that field of study?
Do enough members of the world community agree to work with the solutions to meet the need? Why or why not?
Is more research/cooperation/political effort/public relations needed to move a potential solution to the issue forward?
Conclusion – What is your conclusion about the future of this issue based on what you have learned about it?
References and appendices
YOU MUST CITE THE SOURCE FOR EVERY BIT OF INFORMATION YOU USE FROM A SOURCE OUTSIDE OF YOUR HEAD!
EVEN IF YOU PARAPHRASE THE MATERIAL IT MUST BE CITED.
ANY TIME YOU USE 3 WORDS OR MORE IN A ROW FROM A SOURCE IT MUST BE CITED.
USE APSA CITATION STYLE. The link for that manual is the 1st item listed under the Contents heading “Weblinks”.
ADD ANY DATA LISTS/CHARTS/TECHNICAL INFORMATION THAT IS EXCEPTIONALLY LONG THAT YOU USE TO “APPENDICES” AT THE END OF YOUR ARTICLE. THOSE LISTS/CHARTS/ETC. ARE NOT PART OF THE WORD COUNT FOR YOUR ARTICLE.
4 page minimum AFTER the title…at least 1100 words.
Double-spaced
12-point font
Only 1 return between paragraphs.
Graphs, pictures, inserts do not count toward the word limit.
Reference List does not count toward the word limit.
WHAT NOT TO DO:
DO NOT CHOOSE A TOPIC YOU WANT TO BASH “EXPERTS” ON.
THIS ARTICLE IS TO ADD TO YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND THE READERS’ UNDERSTANDING OF A CURRENT INTERNATIONAL/GLOBAL ISSUE.
THIS IS NOT A PLATFORM OR SOAPBOX FOR YOU TO SPEND 4 PAGES EXPRESSING YOUR NEGATIVE UNSUPPORTED OPINION ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF THE ISSUE/AUTHORS OF ARTICLES YOU CHOSE TO USE.
LEGITIMATE CRITIQUE OF GAPS IN THE THINKING OF AUTHORS OR REFERENCE ARTICLES IS FINE BUT EXPLAIN WITH INFORMATION THAT YOU CAN SUPPORT RATHER THAN YOUR PERSONAL OPINION ALONE. YOU ARE NOT AN EXPERT.
USE OTHER EXPERTS TO HELP YOU EXPLAIN WHAT THE PROBLEM/GAP IS. THAT MEANS USING OTHER ARTICLES TO COUNTER WHAT ONE ARTICLE SAYS. THAT IS FAIR REASONING. POINT OUT AND USE ANY THE CONTRADICTIONS. BUT, ALL ARTICLES/INFORMATION MUST BE FROM LEGITIMATE SOURCES. ANYTHING FROM NEWS SOURCES LIKE NEWSMAX, BREITBART, FOX, CNN, ARE NOT ACADEMIC SOURCES.
USE ACADEMIC/TECHNICAL ARTICLES/INFORMATION.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How soon can I get my paper done?

It depends with your deadline. If you need your paper completed in 3 hours, we will deliver it in that time. All you need to do is indicate your deadline in our custom order page here. Alternatively, if you are sending us your instructions via email, please be sure to indicate your deadline.

Will it be completely original? I don't want to be caught in a case of Academic Integrity Violation.

We are as paranoid as you are. Maybe even more! And we understand that the greatest sin you can commit in your academic journey is plagiarizing your academic work. To that end, we have made sure that we check and double-check our papers using high quality plagiarism detection tools such as SafeAssign and Turnitin before submitting the paper to you.

Who is my writer? Is he/she a native English Speaker?

All our writers are native English Speakers. That is not to say that ESL writers are not good, we just prefer hiring native writers because we want the very best people working on your paper. This might mean paying a little bit more for your paper as opposed to when you pay a foreign company whose writers are non-native English Speakers.

What if I need revisions? Will your charge additional for this?

Of course not! If you do happen to require a revision on your paper, our team will handle it for you free of charge. Matter of fact, we won’t rest till you are happy with your paper. So, ask for as many revisions as you need, it’s completely FREE!

Will you give me my money back if I don't like my paper?

We have very few instances where we delivered a paper that a client didn’t fall in love with. But if it so happens that you don’t like your paper for any reason whatsoever, we’ll refund your money back no questions asked.

I have more assignments after this, can you help me with those too?

Of course! And what’s even better is that we can reserve a writer permanently to work on your entire class. This comes in handy for projects which build up on each other and where you need just one writer, one writing style.

I got my order information wrong, can I change that?

Yes you can. Just reach out to our support team via email (support@essaynook.com) or live chat here and they’ll help you change the instructions.

Can I place an order via email instead of going through the order page?

Yes you can. Email Anna at anna@essaynook.com, she’s in charge of our sales team. Alternatively, you can talk to our Live Chat team here and request to speak to Anna.
