Study sources
The recommended reading for this week should be the main source you need. That is:
Open Education Resources
OpenStax Microbiology: Chapter 18.5: Vaccines (https://openstax.org/books/microbiology/pages/18-5-vaccines)
OpenStax Microbiology Chapter 14: Antimicrobial drugs(https://openstax.org/books/microbiology/pages/14-introduction)
Microbiology Chapter 20: Laboratory analysis of the immune system (https://openstax.org/books/microbiology/pages/20-introduction)
There may be specific questions/topics you want to do an internet search for and by now you should feel confident to identify trustworthy sources. I am always happy to help if you need more recommendations for sources or advice on whether a source is trustworthy.
As always, all work must be your own, and any material copied from another source must be clearly identified and the source cited.
1. Vaccines
A – What are vaccines and how do they work?
Create at least half a page of writing, a page of original diagrams or a mixture of both.
Address each of the following:
How do vaccines work to create immunity to diseases?
What are vaccines typically made of?
B – Specific vaccination campaigns
Create at least half a page of writing, a page of original diagrams or a mixture of both.
Pick a specific vaccine, against a specific disease (e.g. the Pfizer vaccine against COVID-19).
Identify and study at least 3 reliable sources of information related to the vaccine and its use to tackle the disease.
List all 3 sources.
What is the disease and how is it caused by the pathogen?
What is the vaccine and how does it work to trigger immunity?
How effective has the vaccination campaign been? What factors made the campaign successful or limited its success?
2. Monoclonal antibodies
Create at least half a page of writing, a page of original diagrams or a mixture of both to address the following:
What are monoclonal antibodies
How are they produced?
What can they be used for (consider both immunotherapies and immunoassays). Describe a few examples in detail, rather than just producing a long list of named uses without any details.
3. Antimicrobial drugs
Pick 5 specific antimicrobial drugs (antibiotics, antivirals or antifungals).
For each one provide information on each of the following:
What is the name of the drug?
What specific molecule or biochemical process does it target in the pathogen?
What is it used to treat?
4. Antibiotic resistance
Imagine a bacterial pathogen.
There are 1000 bacterial cells inside patient X.
You have three antibiotics available for treatment: A, B and C.
The chance that any bacterial cell is resistant to A is 50%
The chance that any bacterial cell is resistant to B is 5%
The chance that any bacterial cell is resistant to C is 1%
4A – What is the probability that any given bacterial cell in patient X is resistant to A and B. Show your working
4B – What combination of antibiotics would you prescribe for this patient, and why?
4C – In general, why not just always give all patients as many different antibiotics as possible? What are at least 3 factors to consider before prescribing a particular antibiotic to a patient?

Frequently asked questions

How soon can I get my paper done?

It depends with your deadline. If you need your paper completed in 3 hours, we will deliver it in that time. All you need to do is indicate your deadline in our custom order page here. Alternatively, if you are sending us your instructions via email, please be sure to indicate your deadline.

Will it be completely original? I don't want to be caught in a case of Academic Integrity Violation.

We are as paranoid as you are. Maybe even more! And we understand that the greatest sin you can commit in your academic journey is plagiarizing your academic work. To that end, we have made sure that we check and double-check our papers using high quality plagiarism detection tools such as SafeAssign and Turnitin before submitting the paper to you.

Who is my writer? Is he/she a native English Speaker?

All our writers are native English Speakers. That is not to say that ESL writers are not good, we just prefer hiring native writers because we want the very best people working on your paper. This might mean paying a little bit more for your paper as opposed to when you pay a foreign company whose writers are non-native English Speakers.

What if I need revisions? Will your charge additional for this?

Of course not! If you do happen to require a revision on your paper, our team will handle it for you free of charge. Matter of fact, we won’t rest till you are happy with your paper. So, ask for as many revisions as you need, it’s completely FREE!

Will you give me my money back if I don't like my paper?

We have very few instances where we delivered a paper that a client didn’t fall in love with. But if it so happens that you don’t like your paper for any reason whatsoever, we’ll refund your money back no questions asked.

I have more assignments after this, can you help me with those too?

Of course! And what’s even better is that we can reserve a writer permanently to work on your entire class. This comes in handy for projects which build up on each other and where you need just one writer, one writing style.

I got my order information wrong, can I change that?

Yes you can. Just reach out to our support team via email (support@essaynook.com) or live chat here and they’ll help you change the instructions.

Can I place an order via email instead of going through the order page?

Yes you can. Email Anna at anna@essaynook.com, she’s in charge of our sales team. Alternatively, you can talk to our Live Chat team here and request to speak to Anna.
