On November 30th, 2022 I speak with Mr. Peter about my recent senior position and what I needed to improve.
Mr. Peter tells me, I passed the interview and he chooses the best employees.
But two people are already getting half of the senior pay (one electrician is more than 3 or 4 months and another electrician is more than 2 months) because Mr. Peter gave them a favor before interviewing them.
So I asked him what the best employees for him were. Mr. Peter said he is working south side of the plant. That is why Mr. Peter chose him. But now, officially, he is a senior because he knows the south side of the plant.
So my challenge was that I worked on the south side and north side by myself. Also, Mr. Peter’s claim is not correct. Most of the electricians, more or less, did not know the exact location of equipment, panel, etc., (sometimes we have to trace out where to go).
After I challenged Mr. Peter told me he was working alone when another electrician was not present. So he deserved it.
So I told Mr. Peter, I am on the swing shift and I work alone and working on the south side and north side. Even Mr. Peter claims he is working alone is not alone, because the electric shop has a full crew of electricians.
I even bring up a senior position interview. I have a bachelor of electrical engineering and petroleum engineering from my country. And I am a group leader and supervisor of industrial electricians and have petroleum experience. Also, timely manner jobs have been done for over 20 plus years. In every industry (including Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant), I work above and beyond.  
Also, I bring it up on the storm drain pump. Mr. Peter initially told me to work on the swing shift and graveyard shift for 5 hours overtime (Saturday and Sunday) each shift, to pump out the storm drain. But I don’t see anybody done but me. (That is one example of what I meant by “I work above and beyond.”)
After that, on November 30th, 2022 Mr. Peter officially tells me that it is my job to do. So I told him being brought up issues is finally being punished. Another word is retaliation.
Mr. Peter said this was not a punishment. So I ask, if it is not a punishment, what is it? He said,” I know you are hard-working, you are smart. So I asked Mr. Peter, why am I not qualified for a senior position? Because I am Asian? (Because Asian Americans are often portrayed as a model minority — well-educated, hard-working, quiet type, and successful. For this reason, Asian Americans are regularly left out of discussions about discrimination in the workplace and overlooked for promotion. Asians are often excluded in diversity and inclusion plans entirely.)
Then Mr. Peter said, “don’t use the black card”. So I told Mr. Peter, I did not use a black card. I speak from my experience. My ex-senior (Miss. Christine) treats me badly. On April 20th, 2022 (approximate new hire interview date), after I finish my job and come back to the electrical shop and drink a cup of water. A radio call came in for Miss. Christian name. But she is chit-chatting with outside contractors and one electrician sitting down in front of her. But she shouted to me to go get the call. I told her as soon as I finished my cup of water I would go. But she tells me that you can drink while you are walking. That is my final decision to stand up for myself. (Because this is not the first time. This is the third time. But I try to be nice and quiet the first and second times.)
So I informed my supervisor. My temporary supervisor (Mr. John) told me the good thing is she will be going to another plant. The next day, I also informed Mr. Peter. He is aware of that. Miss Christian should not treat me like that, she not even ask another sitting electrician. This is a fact that I am an Asian and can be discriminated against me.
Also, Mr. Peter told me that everybody wanted my swing shift, if you complain I will take you back to the day shift. That is threatening to my recent position. Because he knows I like more money and he has an issue with me telling truth about I like money.
He even changes my D-Time from 10/23/23 to 11/05/22. I used sick 100% for 4 hours and personal leave for 6 hours when that day I was sick. He changed to sick 75% 6 hours and sick 100% 4 hours. To get less pay.
Mr. Peter even brings up that because of money I will not give a promotion. I already explain to Mr. Peter since the day I work in any industry I am approved to work hard and work smart to learn as much as I can because I like money, and that is nothing to do with promotion because of money. All want is when better financial opportunities come I like to have equal employment opportunities. Being I like more money Mr. Peter should not punish me not to deserving of promotion. Also, this is not against city policy being who like money.
Dec 7th, 2022 I spoke with manager Mr. Gabriel Viado about my concern. After I explained as I explain to Mr. Peter. Mr. Gabriel told me he only looks for interviews skill and nothing else. And he said I pass the interview and the other two interviewees get more scores and you need more work on interviews skill.
Being English is the second language I try hard to get equal employment opportunities, but even if I pass the interview my interviews skill is should not be an issue, my work performance, teamwork, and timely manner of jobs being done should be included. Even job requirements there is no interview skill needed.
As a hard-working, care about safety and the plant should not deserve to be let out of promotion.
Conclusion of this:
Mr. Peter gives a favor to two individuals, giving them half of their senior pay before officially interviewing. After the interview, those two people got the promotion.
Mr. Peter promotes employees based on who knows the location and who has been working alone. (I did not get the promotion, even though I work alone and I work on the north side of the plant and south sides of the plant.)
Being an Asian-American myself, Mr. Peter was regularly left out of discussions about discrimination in the workplace and overlooked for promotion.
Unfair treatment, more work, and threats to my recent position. Same overtime for the swing shift and graveyard shift. But I am the one pumping out the storm drain. When the opportunity came, I was left out of promotion by my management.
Interviews skill is should not be an issue, my work performance, teamwork, and timely manner of jobs being done should be included. Even job requirements there is no interview skill needed.
I believe all of the decision-making for promotion and treading badly is against Los Angeles city policy.
